Europe-Day 15/Part 2

Part two of our adventurous Day #15...

I wanted to post this picture of Liam, because I just found it hilarious for some reason.

"Good Morning, meh."

Friday...the weekend...Dresden is bustling with tourism even more so today...

After Baby Fin woke up from his morning nap, we headed out to get some fresh air.
The MINUTE we stepped outside, it started to rain sprinkle.
You should have seen it.
All in one Giant WHOOSH everyone's umbrellas were up...
...People were parting quicker than the Red Sea!

I couldn't help but think to myself,
"Whoa, stay away from Seattle if you are intimidated with this measly weather."

The rain today actually reminded me of WA today...
A light drizzle.
It actually warmed my heart to walk in it :)

Anyway...
We were off in search of the city's famous rose garden.
It's very special because it separates old-town and new-town, so people venture through it to get to and from their daily business.
A pretty nice commute I'd say :)

At first, I thought this was it and thought to myself,
"Funny they call it a rose garden when there are no roses."
Turns out this is just a nice "garden area" next to the capitol.

Liam smelling some mmmm...mmmm...flowers.

"Mom, how many pictures are you going to take?  Seriously."

What Liam says after EVERY sniff:  "mmmmmm."
So cute!

Showing a plant who's boss after tripping over it.
I found out today that Liam has some mad ninja skills.

Lily pads...not sure if I've ever seen these in real life.
Have you?

Heading towards the capitol.

Liam thought he was literally in heaven when he saw this
GIANT, "Da Boe."
He was quickly frustrated at the fact that he couldn't move it.

"Oh Mama, more pictures."

LOTS of cement steps = nervous mom trying to let her 18-month-old have a little freedom.

We finally made it to the rose garden!
This was just a tiny portion of it.

I saw this darling elderly couple (to the left), so I pretended to take pictures of other things until they walked by so I could snap their picture.
Is that weird?

They stopped us on the bridge to ask if I wanted a picture with Liam.
They spoke no English, but offered their assistance anyway.
We then had about a 5 minute "conversation" which involved
many hand gestures,
pointing to Liam,
and smiling.
I knew there was a good reason I took their picture!

Bikers EVERYWHERE!
Love it!

Bikers waiting to cross....

A biker... carrying a bike :)
I even saw a mom biker pulling a trailer with her child in it, with his bike attached to the trailer!
She needed a sign that said, "Look out!!  LONG LOAD!"
There were kids on the fronts of bikes, backs of bikes
riding on luggage racks
and there were even kids with bike seats attached to their parents bikes!
(not the kind you are thinking of...they looked tandem bikes with only one set of peddles)
It was so cute.

Resting bikers overlooking the Elbe River.

No, I don't know ANY of these people.
I just think Dresden is a neat place, with neat people.
We did MUCH people watching during our walk today!!!
I loved every minute of it...
Obviously!

Tomorrow we are supposed to be headed to Prague, but we may just stay here instead.
We spent 2 days in Prague in 2006, and only 3 hours in Dresden.
Clint hasn't gotten a chance to enjoy the city much, so we may just stay put.

Ciao-ciao!
I just LOVE hearing Liam saying that to people!
